ARRIVAL OF THE SHIPZEALANDIAFROM LONDON
At about twenty minutes past nine last night the lights of a steamer were seen to come rapidly round the North Head and a few minutes afterwards the sound of a horn could be heard, which at once announced the fact that the R.M.S.S.Zealandiawas the steamship coming in. At a quarter to ten she was off the Railway Wharf and the firing of her gun at that time had the effect of bringing together on the wharf all the officials who are usually in attendance upon the mail steamers. Under the charge of Pilot SAINTY the vessel was soon moored alongside the Queen-street Wharf and the work of discharging theZealandiawas at once commenced. The steamer is upon the present trip fairly patronised by passengers, whilst her freight list is a little above the average. We notice amongst the items one of 2561 sacks barley.

TheZealandiacomes into port in splended order, a fact that reflects very highly upon Captain WEBBER and his officers and her present trip of 20 days 3 hrs may be placed to her credit as one of the fastest trips made, putting the vessel as it does into this harbour fully three days in advance of timetable date.

Of the passage Captain WEBBER reports as follows:

Discharged the San Francisco pilot on June 30 at 5.35 p.m. and was abreast of Farralone Rocks at 7.20 p.m., with fresh breeze and moderate sea; thence to Honolulu, light and variable winds with smooth sea; received the Honolulu pilot on July 7 at 9.25 a.m. and discharged him at 5.35 p.m. same day; experienced light and favourable winds with moderate sea until Thursday, July 19, when the S.S.Australiawas passed, four miles distant, at 8.45 a.m.; thence to port strong gale with high sea; received Auckland pilot on July 20 at 3.50 p.m. Captain WEBBER reports the arrival of the S.S.Hankowon the 7th inst. at Honolulu with 1400 emigrants from the Azores.

TheZealandiawas to sail again for Sydney at 4 o’clock this morning.
