During a squall off Tiri Tiri Matangi, thePioneer’sfore-stay
sail split, then the tiller broke short off in
the rudder head. With the gale then at its height
the ship was compelled to be brought up. ThePioneeris
a model of symmetry and is said to be an excellent
sea boat, staunch, stiff and dry. Her accommodations
are beautifully fitted.
