BROWN, Russell Henry, 20, for rescuing
Arthur BURNSIDE, 24, from drowning at Cowes Bay, Auckland, 6 Jan 1915;
letter of commendation. Humane Society Award. [AW 22nd April 1915]
HUMPHRIES,
L/Cpl (acting Sgt) Cecil F G HUMPHRIES of Christchurch, attached to
the 1st Manchester Regt, Indian Expeditionary Force, awarded the Distinguished
Conduct Medal. Son of Mrs A R Rowse of Mataura. [AWN 29.04.1915]
MEREWEATHER, Eric W, aged 30, for
rescuing Ella RUTHERFORD, aged 24, and attempting to rescue Gwendoline
WHITEFORD, aged 13, from drowning, Wanganui River, January 1915: silver
medal. Humane Society Award [AW 22nd April 1915]
PRICE, Andrew, aged 13, Frank BRYDON,
12 & Haydon CHEESEMAN, 10, for rescuing Lee TIBBETT, 11, from drowning
at the Selwyn River, 29 Jan 1915; letter of commendation. Humane Society
Award[AW 22nd April 1915]
ROBERTSON, Andrew, 29, for attempting
to rescue Florence A V Maller, 17,from drowning at Napier, 28 Feb 1915:
bronze medal. Humane Society Award [AW 22nd April 1915]
WINTER, Levi Lot, aged 22, for rescuing
Alice & Albert HILLBERT from drowning near Gisborne on 01 Jan 1915:
silver medal. Humane Society Award [AW 22nd April 1915]
WOODWARD, A, aged 45, for rescuing
Cissy FREEMAN, aged 9, from drowning at Sumner 03.12.1915: bronze medal.
